CFFE Girls Flourish In Easter Festival

The Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust Girls Centre for Football Excellence teams continued with their elite
development programme over the Easter holidays. Teams from across the Southern region attended with the likes of Portsmouth, Yeovil, Reading, Gloucester City and Cheltenham coming to Swindon to compete in a Girls Round Robin Festival. The matches were all close knit affairs with the results as followed: Under 11’s Results Swindon 3 – 0 Portsmouth Swindon 1 – 0 Reading Swindon 7 – 0 Portsmouth Swindon 1 – 2 Cheltenham Under 12’s Results Swindon 1 – 1 Portsmouth Swindon 3 – 1 Cheltenham Swindon 2 – 1 Reading Swindon 2 – 0 Gloucester City Under 13’s Results Swindon 2 — 0 Portsmouth U13 Swindon 1 — 0 Reading U12 Swindon 4 — 0 Cheltenham U12 Swindon 3 — 1 Portsmouth U13 Swindon 1 — 1 Reading U15 Under 15’s Results Swindon 2 – 0 Cheltenham Swindon 1 – 0 Reading Swindon 0 – 1 Portsmouth Under 16’s Results Swindon 0 – 1 Yeovil Swindon 1 – 2 Reading A fantastic day was had by all girls in attendance, with beautiful weather and some excellent football played in a great spirit. Shane Hewlett, STFITC Girls Development Officer, said: “I’d like to thank all of the teams, participants, volunteers and supporters who made this day a huge success. This has proved a valuable experience for, not just Swindon, but all of our opponents who strive to give opportunities to progress girls within their own programmes.”
