Swindon Town FC Foundation was selected to host the Premier League Primary Stars Girls U11s tournament for the second consecutive year, welcoming 16 teams from across the southern region to take part.

Held at Foundation Park, the event brought together more than 120 players for a day focused on football, teamwork and personal development. From the opening match, teams demonstrated strong technical ability, determination and respect for one another, representing their schools and clubs with pride throughout the tournament.

We were also pleased to welcome representatives from the Premier League Charitable Fund, who attended to document the event. Throughout the day, they interviewed a number of players and coaches to capture the impact of the programme and the experiences of those involved.

Alongside the fixtures, the Skill Zone provided additional opportunities for development. Participants took part in structured challenges designed to improve technique and build confidence in a supportive setting.

A key feature of the day was a workshop led by Libby Waylen of Swindon Town Women. She spoke about her pathway in the game and encouraged players to make the most of their opportunities in football. The session also created a space for open discussion, allowing the girls to talk about both the positives and the challenges within the girls’ game in a supportive and honest environment.

Freestyle sessions were delivered by Taylor Macdonald, who also represents Swindon Town Women. In addition to leading skill-based activities, she performed a dedicated freestyle showcase for all participants, demonstrating technical ability and creativity. The sessions gave players the opportunity to try new skills and express themselves with confidence.

Congratulations to the three teams who progressed to the Premier League Primary Stars Girls U11s National Finals:

  • Plymouth Argyle F.C.
  • Bristol Rovers F.C.
  • Oxford United F.C.

We wish them success at the National Finals.

A special mention goes to Covingham Park Primary School, who represented Swindon Town at the tournament, highlighting the strong link between the club, local schools and the wider community.
