Football for People with Down's Syndrome
Our DS Active football sessions are one of the most well established in the country, set up in the early 2000s, but running through DS Active since 2011.
These sessions have allowed children and young people with Down’s Syndrome to engage in the sport they love.
The sessions now have over 14 participants developing listening, concentration, balance and co-ordination skills on a weekly basis, helping participants individually and collectively.
Ages range from 5 — 25 years and all children, teens, and young adults with Down’s Syndrome are welcome.
“It was fantastic to come and watch the session this evening. The Swindon session is always great fun to attend, and it’s always a pleasure to see everyone smiling and having fun. I was impressed by the real sense of community the club has, with all the parents being supportive towards the players and to each other.”
- DS Active Team Member
Since its formation, the team have travelled all over the country to play other DS teams and have attended the DS Active National Festival each year, and were overjoyed to win the trophy in 2019!
DS Active sessions take place on a Wednesday evening from 5 PM to 6 PM at Foundation Park in the Nigel Eady Training Centre, and cost just £3 per session.
The sessions run concurrently with school term dates.
